Course Agreement (Read and Confirm)

Thank you for choosing the Foundations of Literacy training sponsored by A+PEL. We’re excited to support your professional development in early literacy instruction.

This virtual, asynchronous training course contains FIVE modules. Each module consists of several video sessions, resources housed in a Google Classroom, and optional activities that will help you to grow your understanding of foundational literacy.

Each module is designed by a current or former Louisiana public school teacher or principal. We firmly believe that we all learn best from our peers, and each instructor will be available to answer your questions and support your development through this course!

This is a self-paced course designed to fit within your schedule and take no longer than one year while working full time. However, many of you may finish the course in several weeks or months. This course must be completed one time by all K-3 educators and instructional leaders in the state of Louisiana, according to Act 108.

As educators ourselves, we know that your time is the most valuable resource you have, and that these last few years have been particularly challenging. Thus, we have made specific accommodations to the online training course to support you. First the course content is online and self paced to provide flexibility. Second, we have made it so the modules scale in complexity and length as the course progresses, so that you get used to the course before diving into more complex lessons.

To obtain your course completion certificate, you must watch and complete all 5 video modules and the assignments (quizzes) in Teachable. You must score at least an 80% on the end of course assessment. You are allowed to take it as many times as necessary in order to pass. Your course certificate will be automatically sent to you when all requirements are completed.
