Steps to Certification

Step 1 - Requirements for Admission

  • Complete online application *January 1st - August 31st
  • Undergraduate degree

Step 2 - Acceptance

  • Pay $200 enrollment fee
  • Sign acceptance letter
  • Set up payment plan

Step 3 - Enrollment

  • Coursework opens May 1st
  • Complete RTL orientation
  • Pass Praxis II content exam *Note: You are not fully enrolled in RTL until this step is complete
  • Obtain a Practitioner’s License
  • Begin Phase 1 of coursework

Step 4 - Find a Teaching Position

  • Apply for teaching positions in your chosen content area
  • Interview for open teaching positions
  • Become a teacher of record for field experience

Step 5 - Complete Certification

  • Complete two semesters of field experience as a teacher of record
  • Pass all required Praxis exams
  • Complete all coursework
  • Pay remaining balance in full
  • Apply for teaching certificate
